Hand-Ground Mauritian Spices

Buy Mauritian masala ground by hand in Trois Boutiques — small batches, whole spices roasted before grinding, nothing added and nothing bulked out. Sold here at the house in Riambel.

Ground on volcanic stone, in batches we can carry

A mill heats the spice and drives off the oil that carries the flavour. The ross cari — our basalt grinding stone — crushes cold and slowly, so the oil stays in the powder. You can smell the difference the moment a packet is opened.

Every blend is our family recipe, still roasted and ground by hand in Trois Boutiques — the village in the south where our family has prepared spices for generations. No colouring, no anti-caking agents, no rice flour to make the bag heavier.

The Boutique

Textiles, jewellery and woven vacoas

The same room holds work by makers we know personally — cloth woven on a hand loom, and baskets plaited from vacoas leaf the way baskets have always been made on this coast. Pieces are one-off, so what you see is what there is.
